Archbishop-designate Franz Lackner, O.F.M. was named Archbishop of Salzburg, Austria.

The archdiocese had been vacant since the retirement of Archbishop Alois Kothgasser, S.D.B. earlier this month.

Archbishop-designate Lackner had been serving as Auxiliary Bishop of Graz-Seckau.
